Job summary

Tejjy Inc. in Rockville, MD is seeking an experienced 3D LiDAR Scanning Technician to join the engineering and design team on-site.

You will operate LiDAR scanners, collect field data, and help convert scans into usable deliverables such as point clouds, 3D models, and Scan-to-BIM outputs. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with 3D LiDAR equipment, field data collection, and a solid understanding of registrations, data processing, and accuracy checks.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with 3D LiDAR or terrestrial laser scanning.
• Experience operating professional 3D laser scanners.
• Knowledge of point-cloud capture, registration, and processing.
• Understanding of AEC, surveying, construction, or BIM workflows.
• Ability to interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.
• Strong attention to accuracy and detail.
• Ability to work independently in the field as well as collaborate with project teams.
• Good communication and documentation skills.
• Willingness to work on-site and travel to project locations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate 3D LiDAR/laser scanning equipment for accurate field data collection.
• Plan and execute scanning activities at construction sites, buildings, and existing facilities.
• Set up scanners, targets, control points, and registration workflows.
• Perform field verification and ensure complete coverage of project areas.
• Process, register, clean, and organize point-cloud data.
• Identify and resolve scanning or registration issues.
• Support Scan-to-BIM workflows and coordinate with BIM and engineering teams.
• Assist in developing accurate existing-condition documentation from point-cloud data.
• Conduct quality checks on collected data and final deliverables.
• Maintain scanning equipment and follow field safety procedures.
• Prepare field notes, scanning reports, and project documentation.
• Travel to project sites when required.
