Job Summary

Assist journeyman in the planning, layout, installation, testing, and repair of wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, motors, equipment, and control systems in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Learn to use appropriate hand (e.g., drill, screwdriver) and power tools (e.g., pipe threader, conduit bender) to properly assist electricians in performing their duties, including measuring, cutting, and bending wire and conduit; drilling holes; pulling wiring; assisting in lifting, positioning, and fastening objects.
  2. Perform minor repairs such as replacing fuses, light sockets, bulbs, and switches.
  3. Maintain tools and equipment, keep supplies and parts organized, and disassemble, repair, or reassemble defective electrical equipment.
  4. Load, transport, unload, and furnish materials, tools, and supplies to electricians.
  5. Keep work areas clean and restock supplies as needed.
  6. Assist in installing related items according to plans and specifications.
  7. Participate in safety processes and programs, report hazards, and utilize stop work authority when necessary.
  8. Report accidents and near misses, participate in investigations, and engage in safety discussions.
  9. Follow lockout/tag out procedures, attend site-specific training, and adhere to safety regulations.
  10. Communicate effectively with team members, participate in on-the-job training, and produce quality work according to standards.
  11. Learn to read and interpret plans, diagrams, and specifications, and assist in planning and layout.
  12. Observe and report hazards, ensure equipment is operated and maintained correctly, and follow safety protocols.
Management Responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications
  • NCCER Construction Craft Laborer, NCCER Core Curriculum, or equivalent training.
Minimum Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of experience as an electrician or helper, or equivalent training and knowledge of electrical systems and NEC familiarity.
  • Must have necessary licenses, tools, and be at least 18 years old.
  • Ability to complete pre-employment screening.
Certifications
  • NCCER Construction Craft Laborer, NCCER Core Curriculum or equivalent.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
  • Lift up to 50 pounds, work in confined or uneven spaces, and perform physical labor in varying temperatures.
  • Work in construction site environments, including extreme weather, noise, and hazardous equipment.
