Position Summary

The Electrician apprentice should possess electrical knowledge and experience.

Essential Functions

1. Fabricate and install wire-way hangers; install conduit both below and above ground; install assorted sizes and types of cables (thru and local) for lighting, communications, control, power, and electronics.
2. Install components such as terminal boxes, switches, controllers, wiring harnesses, and cabinets for various electrical systems.
3. Install main power switchboards and electrical equipment; connect cables for installed components.

Position Qualifications

Required:

• Previous electrical/electronic trade experience or training.
• This position is physically demanding; the individual must frequently carry up to 25 lbs. and push/pull more than 25 lbs.
• Ability to work all shifts.
• Availability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in extreme temperature conditions as required.
• Must be at least 18 years old, or higher age as required by law, and employed to learn an apprenticeable occupation.
• High school diploma or equivalent (waivable for underrepresented populations in adult education).
• May be eligible for an apprenticeship in one of the following programs: Construction Laborer, Combination Welder, Electrician, Heavy Equipment Operator, or Substation Lineman.

Preferred:

• Skilled in reading and interpreting blueprints and electrical schematics.
• Electrical/electronic trades training or basic electrical knowledge.
• No electrical license required.

Education & Experience

Education: Applicable journeyman licensure requirements.

Experience: 1 to 2 years.

Computer Skills: Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Adobe.

Certificates & Licenses: Journeyman certification.
