The Merch Manager reports to the Store Manager and is responsible for all merchandising operations within assigned departments, including but not limited to: department layouts, signing standards, product features, setup of raceways and promo aisles, markdowns, freight flow, loss prevention, and department maintenance. The Merch Manager acts as the Manager on Duty in the absence of the Store Manager and Co-Manager. Additional duties may include HR functions such as hiring and staffing. The role requires ensuring company policies are followed and aims to improve store volume, profits, shrink, employee retention, and merchandising standards by meeting budgets and guidelines.
The position may require working at different locations within the city at the discretion of the District Manager, including overnight accommodations for store openings, cleanups, or inventory needs. Effective communication of policies, procedures, and training materials to customers and team members is essential. Physical requirements include lifting up to 40 lbs., occasionally up to 70 lbs., and performing tasks such as walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, and repetitive lifting, with or without accommodations.
Transfers to other stores in the market may occur, and flexibility with work hours is necessary, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
