Position Summary

The 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM Nursing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all nursing operations during the evening shift. The supervisor provides clinical leadership, ensures quality resident care, maintains compliance with federal and state regulations, supports nursing staff, responds to emergencies, and serves as the primary nursing leader in the facility during evening hours.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership
  • Supervise and direct all licensed nurses and certified nursing assistants (CNAs) during the evening shift.

  • Ensure residents receive quality nursing care in accordance with physician orders, care plans, and facility policies.

  • Make routine rounds throughout the facility to monitor resident care and staff performance.

  • Assess residents as needed and respond promptly to changes in condition.

  • Provide clinical guidance and support to nursing staff.

Staff Supervision
  • Assign work and adjust staffing assignments as necessary.

  • Monitor attendance, punctuality, and staff performance.

  • Assist with mentoring, coaching, and educating nursing staff.

  • Address employee concerns and report disciplinary issues to the Director of Nursing.

  • Assist with orientation of newly hired nursing staff.

Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with CMS, New Jersey Department of Health regulations, OSHA, HIPAA, and facility policies.

  • Monitor infection prevention practices, hand hygiene, PPE usage, and isolation precautions.

  • Ensure proper documentation is completed accurately and timely.

  • Maintain narcotic accountability and medication security.

Resident Care
  • Respond to resident and family concerns professionally and promptly.

  • Assist with admissions, transfers, discharges, and emergency situations.

  • Ensure physician orders are carried out appropriately.

  • Coordinate care with physicians, therapists, pharmacy, dietary, and other interdisciplinary team members.

Quality Assurance
  • Conduct medication cart and treatment cart inspections.

  • Perform nursing rounds to ensure compliance with standards of care.

  • Identify clinical concerns and initiate corrective action when necessary.

  • Report incidents, accidents, infections, and unusual occurrences according to facility policy.

  • Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives.

Administrative Responsibilities
  • Complete shift reports and communicate resident updates during nursing report.

  • Ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained throughout the shift.

  • Review staffing schedules and assist with coverage for call-outs when necessary.

  • Ensure completion of required audits and documentation.

  • Communicate significant events to the Director of Nursing and Administrator.

Emergency Responsibilities
  • Act as the nursing leader during emergencies.

  • Respond to resident emergencies, falls, behavioral incidents, fire alarms, and disaster situations.

  • Ensure emergency procedures are followed appropriately.

  • Coordinate with emergency medical services as needed.

Qualifications
  • Current New Jersey RN or LPN license in good standing.
