Job summary

Mazak Corporation Canada is seeking a skilled welder to lay out, weld, and finish sheet metal parts according to engineering drawings. The role involves reading blueprints, selecting parts, welding to precise tolerances, and assembling fixtures for welding operations.

Responsibilities include setting up MIG equipment, operating an overhead crane, grinding and finishing parts for painting, and maintaining a clean work area.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; vocational training preferred.
• MIG welding experience and blueprint reading.
• Familiarity with metric system and weld shrinkage factors.
• Autobody sanding experience is a plus.
• Must pass entry-level test administered by Mazak.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, welding prints and drawings.
• Weld parts to tolerances and align parts from laser cutting/press brake operations.
• Modify or redesign parts as needed.
• Sand, grind, buff, taper and cap fabricated parts per drawings.
• Design and build fixtures/jigs for welding and assembly.
• Set up and run MIG welding machines.
• Operate overhead crane and use hand tools (saws, shears, drills, grinders).
• Prepare fabricated parts for painting and visually inspect before coating.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area.

Job description

Welders weld and sand sheet metal parts to engineering specifications as shown on the blueprints.

Scope and Responsibilities:

• Proactively attains a safe and healthy work environment for all employees
• Read and interpret blueprints, welding prints and other drawings.
• Select parts from laser cutting/press brake operation to weld and align parts according to specifications.
• Weld parts to specific tolerances.
• Modify or redesign existing parts if necessary.
• Sand, grind, buff, taper and or tap fabricated parts to drawing specifications.
• Design and build fixtures jigs to use in welding and assembly operations.
• Must be able to set up and run MIG welding machines.
• Operate overhead crane and use various hand tools including saws, shears, drills and grinders.
• Prepare fabricated parts for painting
• Visually inspect each part that is ready for paint.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area.

Education/Certification:

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Vocational school is preferred

Skills:

• MIG welding experience
