Job summary

Mazak Corporation seeks a skilled welder to read blueprints, select parts from laser and brake operations, and weld to tight tolerances. You will set up MIG welding machines, operate an overhead crane, and fabricate fixtures for welding and assembly.

The role requires finishing work such as sanding, prepping parts for painting, and maintaining a clean, safe work area in the plant. GED or vocational training preferred; prior autoparts welding experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret blueprints, welding prints and other drawings.
• MIG welding experience required; ability to set up and operate MIG machines.
• Knowledge of the metric system for precision measurements.
• Autobody sanding experience is a plus for finishing parts.
• Familiar with weld shrinkage factors and various welding techniques.

Responsibilities

• Weld and sand sheet metal parts to engineering specifications.
• Set up and run MIG welding machines.
• Read blueprints and select parts from laser cutting/press brake operations to weld per drawings.
• Weld parts to specified tolerances and inspect finished work.
• Design, build and use fixtures/jigs for welding and assembly.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area and operate overhead crane safely.
• Prepare fabricated parts for painting and visually inspect before coating.

Job description

Welders weld and sand sheet metal parts to engineering specifications as shown on the blueprints.

Scope and Responsibilities:

• Essential duties include, but are not limited to the following:
• Proactively attains a safe and healthy work environment for all employees
• Read and interpret blueprints, welding prints and other drawings.
• Select parts from laser cutting/press brake operation to weld and align parts according to specifications.
• Weld parts to specific tolerances.
• Modify or redesign existing parts if necessary.
• Sand, grind, buff, taper and or tap fabricated parts to drawing specifications.
• Design and build fixtures jigs to use in welding and assembly operations.
• Must be able to set up and run MIG welding machines.
• Operate overhead crane and use various hand tools including saws, shears, drills and grinders.
• Prepare fabricated parts for painting
• Visually inspect each part that is ready for paint.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area.

Education/Certification:

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Vocational school is preferred

Skills:

• MIG welding experience

• Must be knowledgeable of weld shrinkage factors and various welding techniques.
• Must successfully pass entry-level test administered by Mazak.
