Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Lafayette, IN is seeking a 2nd shift Team Lead to oversee day-to-day warehouse operations, lead meetings and coordinate with logistics teams to improve processes.

You’ll manage heavy equipment, ensure safety standards, track metrics, and support continuous improvement while guiding a multifunctional team toward on-time, accurate shipping. Starting wage is $23.80/hour with overtime opportunities; a monthly attendance bonus of $200 is offered.

• Safety: daily maintenance and safety logs, PPE usage, hazards reporting.
• Warehouse management: direct warehousing tasks, inventory records, to move materials.
• Customer service management: focus on customer satisfaction and service standards.
• Coaching others: provide feedback and develop team skills.
• Effective communications: clear, assertive, empathetic team communications.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment (sit-down forklifts, reach trucks, order pickers, hoists) and handle warehousing tasks (unload, sort, put away, pick, pack, ship).
• Lead meetings with multifunctional teams to track performance and priorities.
• Coordinate with logistics and carriers to set up expedited shipments and manage zones.
• Lead problem-solving events for continuous improvement and training matrix management.
• Track quality metrics and uphold safety, quality, velocity and cost goals.
