Job summary

Great Lakes Cheese, Inc. is seeking a Warehouse Supervisor to ensure efficient and safe operation of the assigned area. You will oversee processing orders and receiving materials per procedures, SOPs, and specs while meeting schedules and deadlines.

The role emphasizes leadership, adherence to quality standards, and collaboration with production to coordinate shipping needs. Strong decision making, communication, and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience.
• 3 years of warehouse supervisory experience or more.
• 3 years of warehouse experience or more.
• In depth understanding of shipping and receiving processes and related equipment.
• Ability to make sound decisions based on standard practices.
• Ability to read and prepare shipping and receiving records/reports and comprehend production schedules/pick sheets.
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to lead in a team based culture.
• Ability to follow-up on employee issues and bring conflicts to a satisfactory resolution.
• Ability to manage time, coordinate multiple tasks, adjust schedules to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Experience in the use of a bar code driven (RF) operation.

Responsibilities

• Distribute labor evenly to process customer orders efficiently.
• Complete daily employee work zone schedules and organize overtime as needed.
• Ensure all material received and shipped meets quality specs.
• Provide guidance to warehouse staff to achieve daily goals.
• Maintain communication with management and peers.
• Conduct shift start-up meetings and weekly updates.
• Ensure training for new hires is completed and up-to-date.
• Make decisions related to shipping/receiving issues as they arise.
• Delegate responsibilities as needed.
• Observe and evaluate warehouse processes and personnel.
• Schedule vacations and manage attendance issues.
• Maintain accurate records and employee files.
• Lead and motivate by example.
• Ensure outbound freight complies with DOT and customer requirements.
• Address daily issues and provide tactful feedback.
• Support special projects, customer requests, cost savings, etc.
• Coordinate product needs with production for shipping.
