Job summary

Great Lakes Cheese is seeking a Bulk Cheese Handler to prepare product and cut to meet customer specs in line with GMP and safety policies. Responsibilities include sanitation, de-boxing, weighing, data entry, and rotating through bulk lines to ensure continuous production.

Ideal candidates have basic manufacturing understanding, ability to read production reports, perform simple math, and communicate clearly with line personnel on quality and safety issues.

Qualifications

• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and related equipment.
• Ability to make minor decisions based on standard practices.
• Ability to read, prepare, and comprehend production reports and worksheets.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
• Ability to communicate with line personnel regarding information contained therein, and regarding quality and safety issues.

Responsibilities

• Maintain area, equipment, and personal sanitation.
• De-box/unwrap cheese from original packaging.
• Weigh cheese when applicable.
• Manual measurement and countdown of cheese for customer/order specs.
• Inspect/clean cheese and maintain production records.
• Keep line stocked with product to avoid downtime.
• Operate cutters, lifting equipment, and pallet truck.
• Load cheese into machines for further processing.
• Pack and seal trim; review order specs for quality checks.
• Direct/communicate to line personnel on order specs and quality issues.
• Enter data on production reports; communicate safety issues.
• Perform handheld data entry and rotate to all lines in Bulk positions.
• Adhere to Safe Quality Food program and other safety policies.
