Job summary

Seneca Foods Corporation in Geneva, NY is seeking a 2nd Shift Forklift Operator to join our team. The position involves safe operation of forklifts, loading/unloading shipments, and maintaining inventory data.

Overtime may be required due to seasonal workload, with wage range $19.50–$31.50 per hour. Candidates should have basic forklift knowledge, the ability to read and write English, and be able to pass the company forklift certification test.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate electric or gas powered forklifts safely and efficiently.
• Unload, load, transfer, and stack brite or finished goods and supplies from trucks.
• Interpret shipping orders or receiving reports to determine items to be loaded/unloaded.
• Stack/palletize products up to 5 high and ensure correct placement.
• Perform daily vehicle inspections and address any low fluid levels.
• Track and update inventory data as required.
• Ensure proper weight distribution on rail cars and trucks.
• Follow GMPs, safety rules, and regulations; maintain housekeeping.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

NOTE: The seasonal nature of our business often requires working overtime. Therefore, hours may fluctuate due to business necessity and meeting operational needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of electric or gas powered forklifts to and from various departments.

• Unload, load, transfer, and stack brite or finished goods and supplies from trucks, etc.
• Interpret shipping order or receiving report to determine item to be (un)loaded.
• Ability to stack and unstack pallets of products in rows, and up to 5 high.
• Check product for quality, and proper shipping information.
• Daily inspection of vehicle before operating, corrects any low fluid levels.
• Track, input, change, and update data of inventory.
• Complies with proper weight distribution on rail cars and trucks.
• Ensure that GMP's (General manufacturing Practices), safety rules and regulations are being followed and enforced
• Maintains general houskeeping.
• All other duties assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to :
  • Work 12-hour scheduled shifts
  • Read and write the English language
  • Pass the Seneca Forklift certification test.
• Basic knowledge of Forklifts.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Requires good judgement and decision making skills.
• 1 - 3 months of previous forklift experience helpful, but not necessary.

Wage range based on skills, abilities and experience from $19.50 to $31.50/hour
