Job summary

Seneca Foods Corporation in Geneva, NY is seeking a 1st Shift Forklift Operator to join our team. You will operate electric or gas forklifts to unload, load, and transfer goods while maintaining safety and accuracy.

Wage range based on skills and experience from $19.50 to $31.50 per hour. Overtime may be required due to seasonal demand. We offer medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401K, and paid time off.

Qualifications

• Read and write the English language.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Basic knowledge of forklifts.
• 1–3 months forklift experience helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently operate electric or gas-powered forklifts.
• Unload, load, transfer, and stack goods between departments.
• Interpret shipping/receiving documents to determine items to move.
• Stack pallets up to 5 high and ensure proper weight distribution.
• Inspect vehicle daily and report any issues.
• Track and update inventory data accurately.
• Maintain GMPs, safety rules, and housekeeping.

Seneca Foods in Geneva, NY is currently seeking a 1st Shift Forklift Operator to join our team!

NOTE: The seasonal nature of our business often requires working overtime. Therefore, hours may fluctuate due to business necessity and meeting operational needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of electric or gas powered forklifts to and from various departments.
• Unload, load, transfer, and stack brite or finished goods and supplies from trucks, etc.
• Interpret shipping order or receiving report to determine item to be (un)loaded.
• Ability to stack and unstack pallets of products in rows, and up to 5 high.
• Check product for quality, and proper shipping information.
• Daily inspection of vehicle before operating, corrects any low fluid levels.
• Track, input, change, and update data of inventory.
• Complies with proper weight distribution on rail cars and trucks.
• Ensure that GMP's (General manufacturing Practices), safety rules and regulations are being followed and enforced
• Maintains general houskeeping.
• All other duties assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS :

• Ability to :
• Work 12-hour scheduled shifts
• Read and write the English language
• Pass the Seneca Forklift certification test.
• Basic knowledge of Forklifts.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Requires good judgement and decision making skills.
• 1 - 3 months of previous forklift experience helpful, but not necessary.

Wage range based on skills, abilities and experience from $19.50 to $31.50/hour
