The role supervises custodial staff, maintains cleaning standards, ensures safety compliance, and serves as the main contact for evening facility operations. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong leadership, organization, and a commitment to a clean, safe learning environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of two years custodial experience.
• Prior supervisory experience preferred.
• Knowledge of custodial equipment, cleaning methods and safety procedures.
• Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct second-shift custodial staff.
• Train new employees on cleaning procedures, equipment operation, and policies.
• Monitor attendance, punctuality, and performance; conduct coaching as needed.
• Inspect classrooms, offices, restrooms, cafeterias, gyms, and common areas nightly.
• Enforce safety policies and procedures; ensure proper chemical handling and storage.
• Complete inspections, reports, and documentation; manage supplies and equipment inventory.
• Maintain positive relationships with school administrators and staff; respond to service requests promptly.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Supervision and Leadership

• Supervise and direct second-shift custodial staff.
• Train new employees on cleaning procedures, equipment operation, and company policies.
• Monitor employee attendance, punctuality, and performance.
• Conduct routine inspections and provide coaching as needed.
• Assist with employee evaluations, corrective actions, and disciplinary procedures.
• Coordinate staffing and coverage for employee absences.

Facility Operations

• Ensure all assigned areas are cleaned and maintained according to HES and district standards.
• Inspect classrooms, offices, restrooms, cafeterias, gyms, hallways, and common areas nightly.
• Assign work tasks and verify completion of assigned duties.
• Coordinate special cleaning projects, floor care, and seasonal deep‑cleaning activities.
• Respond promptly to custodial and facility‑related concerns.

Safety and Compliance

• Enforce HES safety policies and procedures.
• Ensure proper use, handling, and storage of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Report accidents, injuries, building damage, and safety hazards immediately.
• Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations and district requirements.
• Conduct periodic safety meetings and training sessions.

Administrative Duties

• Complete inspections, reports, and required documentation.
• Maintain inventory of custodial supplies and equipment.
• Communicate regularly with school administrators and HES management.
• Assist with scheduling and operational planning.

Customer Service

• Maintain positive relationships with school administrators, staff, students, and visitors.
• Address concerns and service requests professionally and promptly.
• Represent HES Facilities Management Group in a professional manner at all times.
