Job summary

NorthropGrumman is seeking a 2nd Shift Shipping Manager 1 based in Elkridge, MD to supervise a team of packers, planners, and logistic coordinators. You will drive interplant material movements, ensure safety and security compliance, and manage daily shipping priorities across domestic and international shipments.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years in shipping/logistics or related fields, or 9 years of experience in lieu of degree, and a U.S. Government Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in shipping/logistics or related field; Master’s degree and 3 years experience may offset degree
• Experience leading teams and managing people
• Experience routing and cost planning for domestic and international shipments
• Experience with Domestic Transportation Management System (DTMS) and MS Office
• Experience presenting during meetings for teams, management, customers, or vendors
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance
• U.S. Citizenship required

Responsibilities

• Supervise a team of packers, planners, and logistic coordinators.
• Support interplant movements of material.
• Ensure safety and security policies are followed by staff.
• Implement training and knowledge sharing amongst team members.
• Plan work with Shipping & Logistics Manager and discuss priorities.
• Oversee packaging material storage and inventory.
• Implement continuous improvement projects.
• Build relationships across programs, contracts, mission assurance, production control, and operations.
• Monitor budgets, workload capacity, and forecasts.
• Assist with shipping questions and quick problem resolution.
• Review and maintain employee timekeeping accuracy.
• Ensure team has materials, tools, and equipment to process, pack, and ship materials.
• Communicate with stakeholders on issues affecting shipping processes
