Job summary

Sonoco Products Company in Charleroi, PA is seeking a Set Up Operator for the 2nd shift (Tuesday - Friday 4:30 PM - 3:00 AM) with occasional Monday overtime. You will safely operate production equipment and support the manufacturing process.

Responsibilities include setting up machinery, handling bundles, inspecting quality, logging output, and assisting teammates. A mechanical background is a plus, and basic math and ruler-reading skills are required in a fast-paced plant environment.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read a ruler within 1/32".
• Must demonstrate knowledge of or ability to learn safety rules and procedures.
• Able to communicate effectively with others.
• Must be able to maintain good attendance and be reliable and dependable.
• Work in fast paced industrial environment.
• Having a mechanical background is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Setup machinery in the production process.
• Manually catch bundles and palletize products manufactured by production.
• Examine products to verify conformance to quality standards.
• Observe equipment operations so that malfunctions can be detected and notify operators of malfunctions.
• Lift raw materials, unfinished products, and pack items manually.
• Count finished products to determine if product orders are complete.
• Mark or tag identification on parts.
• Load and unload items from the machines to conveyors and conveyances.
• Help production workers by performing duties of lesser skill, such as supplying or holding material or tools, cleaning work areas and equipment.
• Record information such as the number of products produced including writing dates and time.
• Repeatedly lift to 30 lbs.
