Job summary

Sonoco is seeking a Set Up Operator in Charleroi, PA to safely operate production equipment and support the manufacturing process under the Shift Manager. The role emphasizes meeting plant goals while upholding safety priorities.

You will set up machinery, palletize products, inspect quality, monitor operations, and assist with material handling. Reading a ruler, basic math, and reliable attendance are essential in our fast-paced facility.

Qualifications

• Reading a ruler within 1/32” and performing basic arithmetic including fractions.
• Knowledge of or ability to learn safety rules and operating policies.
• Ability to communicate effectively with others.
• Maintain good attendance and be reliable.
• Work in a fast-paced industrial environment.
• Mechanical background is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set up machinery in the production process.
• Manually catch bundles and palletize products.
• Examine products to verify conformance to quality standards.
• Observe equipment operations and report malfunctions.
• Lift raw materials, unfinished products, and pack items manually (up to 30 lbs).
• Count finished products to determine if orders are complete.
• Mark or tag identification on parts.
• Load and unload items from machines to conveyors.
• Support production workers with duties of lesser skill and keep work areas clean.
• Record information such as quantities produced and timestamps.
