Job summary

Plymouth Public Schools' Plymouth South Middle School in Plymouth, Massachusetts is seeking a 2nd Shift Custodian to maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students and staff.

Responsibilities include cleaning, routine maintenance, operating and troubleshooting building systems (boilers, HVAC, plumbing, electrical), and adhering to OSHA requirements. The position is full-time, 8 hours per day, year-round, with a starting wage of $26–$27 per hour.

Qualifications

• 1. Experience in the custodial trade preferred.
• 2. Knowledge of boilers/HVAC systems and fire alarm/sprinkler systems with training.
• 3. Ability to perform physically demanding custodial duties.
• 4. Health certification signed by a medical professional.
• 5. Ability to pass employer trainings (OSHA).
• 6. Pleasant and professional demeanor with staff and students.
• 7. Knowledge of SchoolDude work order system with training.
• 8. Other job-related qualifications as determined by the School Department.

Responsibilities

• 1. Maintain routine cleanliness, maintenance, repair and troubleshooting for building needs during shift.
• 2. Perform cleaning duties and maintenance of floors, windows, furniture, walls and fixtures.
• 3. Demonstrate knowledge of tools, materials, methods and practices in custodial trade.
• 4. Keep sidewalks and entry areas clean and safe.
• 5. Work on ladders/scaffolding/aerial lifts with proper certifications.
• 6. Assist operation/maintenance of building systems (boilers, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire alarm/sprinkler).
• 7. Maintain equipment and clean work area.
• 8. Follow safety precautions and hazard awareness.
• 9. Communicate effectively with stakeholders.
• 10. Meet physical/environmental demands (standing, lifting up to 50 lbs, weather exposure).
• 11. Perform other duties as assigned by Principal/Director of Facilities.
• 12. Assist with cafeteria cleanup/kitchen floor maintenance (~3.75 hours/day).
