Job summary

Dublin City Schools is seeking a Custodian for Jerome High School (2nd shift: 2:30pm–11pm) to maintain a safe, clean and welcoming environment for students. The role requires basic repairs, strong attention to detail, and the ability to respond to emergencies promptly.

The position is 261 days per year, 8 hours per day, with hourly pay of $20.68 to $24.51, and equal opportunity employment. The successful candidate will work under the Building Administrator or Coordinator, Custodial Services,

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proficiency in general repair, painting, cleaning and operating cleaning equipment.
• Ability to communicate in a courteous manner.
• Neat appearance.
• Ability to carry out assigned duties.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Keeps building and premises neat and clean at all times.
• Notifies head custodian, maintenance supervisor or principal of emergencies, and turns off heat/ventilation/air conditioning as needed.
• Complies with all laws and regulations for maintenance, repair and operation of equipment [OSHA].
• Shovels and salts walks, driveways and steps as appropriate.
• Checks daily that exit doors are open and panic bolts work during occupancy.
• Cleans assigned classrooms daily and dusts furniture as time permits.
• Keeps floors and corridors clean and in good condition.
• Disinfects toilet and lunch room floors daily and cleans fixtures and drinking fountains daily.
• Washes windows inside and out as needed.
• Assists in keeping grounds free of rubbish.
• Cleans chalkboards at least once a week.
• Makes minor building repairs as able.
• Reports major repairs to head custodian.
• Reports damage to school property immediately to head custodian.
