Job summary

Cabarrus County Schools is seeking a Custodian for the 2nd shift at Cox Mill High in Concord, North Carolina. The role involves general custodial and light groundskeeping duties vital to keeping classrooms and common areas clean, safe and well-maintained.

Responsibilities include floor care, restroom sanitation, trash removal, dusting, window and fixture cleaning, and assisting with moving furniture. The position requires reliability and basic maintenance abilities, with a starting environment

Qualifications

• General knowledge of standard janitorial methods, materials, and equipment.
• Some knowledge of cleaning procedures and materials.
• Ability to follow instructions.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Proven attendance record.
• High school diploma or equivalency preferred.

Responsibilities

• Sweep sidewalks and grounds, shovel snow and apply de-icing as needed.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, strip, wax, and buff floors.
• Clean bathrooms and restock supplies; disinfect as needed.
• Empty trash and recycle properly.
• Dust furniture, walls, window sills, blinds and woodwork.
• Clean windows, walls, woodwork, blinds and fixtures.
• Clean drinking fountains.
• Move furniture and set up as required.
• Open/secure buildings and control lights and climate as appropriate.
• Clean and organize storage room.
• Unload and store supplies.
• Raise and lower flags.
• Perform minor maintenance on appliances.
• Perform related duties as required.
