Job summary

ReNEW Schools seeks a Custodian for the 2nd shift (8 hours per day) to maintain a safe, attractive, clean and efficient learning environment across classrooms, corridors, and grounds. The role requires dedication to cleanliness and timely upkeep in a school setting.

The custodian will perform cleaning, minor repairs, and routine maintenance, report needed repairs to the Head Custodian, and ensure building security at opening/closing times.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Ability to plan and organize.
• Skills in human relations.
• Demonstrates aptitude for cleaning, minor mechanical repair, and good work habits.
• Other qualifications as deemed desirable by the School Board.

Responsibilities

• Keeps building and premises neat and clean at all times.
• Performs painting duties as required.
• Shovels, plows, and sands walks, driveways, and steps as appropriate.
• Daily checks to ensure exit doors and panic bolts function during occupancy hours.
• Maintains grounds and performs yardkeeping duties to keep the school safe and attractive.
• Cleans classrooms, corridors, and restrooms; washes windows; stocks supplies.
• Reports major repairs to Head Custodian and assists in building maintenance.
• Opens and closes the building and ensures doors/windows are secured.
• Assists with safety, cleanliness, and general upkeep tasks as assigned by the principal.
