Job summary

Regional School Unit No. 57 is seeking a Custodian for the Line Elementary School 2nd Shift in Waterboro, Maine. The role focuses on cleaning classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas, with opportunities for maintenance tasks and building security duties under the supervision of the Head Custodian.

The position is year-round, with a wage of $18.74–$25.81 per hour. Applicants must meet basic qualifications and be able to work cooperatively with staff while adhering to district policies.

Qualifications

• High School education or equivalent.
• Ability to clean equipment and machines.
• Some knowledge of use and handling of cleaning chemicals.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to work cooperatively with supervisors and coworkers.
• Maintain a generally positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Cleans assigned areas of the facility, including classrooms, hallways, rest rooms, and common areas.
• Performs general maintenance tasks related to the upkeep and operation of the facility.
• See to the general security of the facility during regular shifts, making sure doors are locked and secured.
• Reports to the Head Custodian (or Lead Custodian at smaller schools) and informs them of any maintenance concerns.
• Takes part in snow removal: shoveling, snow blowing/plowing, sand/salt treatment of walkways.
• During the summer months, performs total cleaning and general maintenance of the building.
• Observes all district policies and procedures.
• Constant lifting 5-20 pounds; frequent lifting 20-50 pounds; constant walking and standing; requires bending, reaching, squatting, climbing and kneeling.
