Job summary

Smalley is seeking a manufacturing operator to set up and run small flat wire machines, load wire safely, and use precision testing tools. You will enter data, inspect quality at each step, and report issues with solutions while maintaining high standards.

The role emphasizes basic math/English and process documentation in a hands-on, team-oriented setting. The position supports production through cross‑department collaboration, with ongoing training and development and opportunities for career

Qualifications

• Experience in a manufacturing or related environment.
• Mechanical experience with high-speed automatic or semi-automatic equipment.
• Setup/adjustment of metal forming processes preferred.
• Troubleshooting production equipment and identifying machine problems preferred.
• Measuring parts with precision instruments (micrometers, calipers, load testers).
• Pass required exam of basic math and English.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Sets up and operates two small flat wire machines.
• Loads wire efficiently and safely using appropriate tools.
• Operates all testing equipment including micrometers, hardness testers, and shadowgraphs.
• Completes all data entry transactions in computer for wire data and labeling; inspects wire quality throughout each step of the set‑up process.
• Reports problems that arise with machines, materials, jobs, or team members, and offers solutions within the scope of the duties of the job.
• Prepares raw material for production with high quality and within tolerances.
• Provides complete, accurate documentation when required.
• Participates in cross‑departmental work production based on business needs and learns and upholds defined quality standards to ensure maximum customer satisfaction and optimize work efficiency.

• Experience working in a manufacturing or related environment.
• Mechanical experience, including operation of high‑speed automatic and semi‑automatic equipment.
• Setup and adjustment of metal forming processes (stamping, forming, shearing) preferred.
• Experience troubleshooting production equipment and ability to identify machine problems preferred.
• Experience measuring parts with precision instruments including micrometers, digital calipers, load testers, etc.
• Pass required exam of basic math and English.

A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is $20.90 - $23.10 USD. Salaries may vary based on education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. This role is bonus or incentive eligible.
