Job summary

A. O. Smith Corporation is seeking a Manufacturing Supervisor for the 2nd shift in Johnson City, Tennessee. This onsite role leads a plant workforce, ensures production schedules are met, and coordinates with engineers and quality personnel to resolve issues impacting customers.

The ideal candidate will have a 2+ year supervisory background in manufacturing, strong communication skills, and the ability to drive safe and efficient production practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in Business, Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of related work experience or training.
• 2+ years of supervisory/leadership experience.
• Experience in manufacturing and supervision.
• Ability to prepare and interpret metrics and reports.
• Proficient mathematical skills.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and enforce company policies and procedures.
• Establish a safe workplace through employee involvement.
• Notify HR of emergencies and first aid needs.
• Investigate injuries; support corrective actions.
• Motivate workers to achieve goals.
• Complete time, absenteeism and vacation records promptly.
• Promote positive relations through effective communication of policies.
• Investigate conflicts and handle disciplinary actions.
• Coordinate cross training and rotation programs.
• Analyze and resolve work problems with Leaders.
• Inspect products for conformance and root-cause nonconformances.
• Coordinate with other supervisors to align department activities.
• Estimate man-hours; plan actions to meet schedules.
• Ensure timely completion of manufacturing schedules.
