Job summary

A.O. Smith Corp. is seeking a 3rd shift Production Supervisor to manage the Manufacturing Department, direct plant workforce, and ensure daily production schedules are met. You will coordinate with Leaders, engineers and quality personnel to resolve issues and maintain product quality.

The role emphasizes enforcing policies, safety, scheduling accuracy, and cross-training programs while driving continuous improvement in a high‑volume plant environment in Franklin, TN.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related field preferred.
• 3+ years of related work experience.
• 1+ year of supervisory experience preferred.
• Ability to prepare and interpret metrics and reports.
• Effective communication skills via written and oral.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook).
• Proficient mathematical skills.
• Experience in manufacturing; knowledge of HR and manufacturing process helpful.
• Valid forklift license and valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and enforce company policies to Leaders and Operators.
• Establish a safe workplace through employee involvement.
• Notify HR of emergencies and first aid.
• Investigate injuries and support corrective procedures.
• Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve goals.
• Notify scheduled hours to leaders and employees.
• Complete time, absenteeism, and vacation paperwork timely.
• Promote positive relations with employees through communication.
• Investigate conflicts and discipline within Manufacturing.
• Coordinate cross-training, training programs and rotations.
• Analyze and resolve work problems with Leaders.
• Inspect products for conformance and root-cause nonconformities.
• Coordinate activities with other Supervisors.
• Study production schedules and plan man-hours.
• Ensure timely completion of all production schedules.
• Ensure product quality per guidelines.
