Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promote good housekeeping practices and a safe workplace.
  • Evaluate and document safe work habits.
  • Perform safety inspections.
  • Participate in safety training and provide safety training.
  • Facilitate quality improvement and prevention-oriented quality assurance.
  • Maintain departmental inventory accuracy.
  • Report and assist in resolving all quality-related issues.
  • Assist in achieving annual productivity and performance goals.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Purchasing, and Vendors to optimize costs in specific cost reduction initiatives.
  • Manage departmental budgets.
  • Ensure customer requirements are met by adhering to the build/ship schedule.
  • Track and report department performance metrics.
  • Handle the timely disposition of all non-conforming materials.
  • Contribute to specific cost reduction efforts.
  • Manage shop tools and supplies within cost and quality guidelines.
  • Plan manpower and overtime effectively to meet delivery deadlines with minimal hours.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies.
  • Facilitate employee training for flexibility and manpower coverage.
  • Promote growth and development of production employees through coaching, appraisals, and discipline as needed.
  • Foster high-performance team environments.
  • Conduct employee performance appraisals.
  • Participate in interviews for potential employees.
  • Hold regular department meetings.
  • Maintain employee time and attendance records accurately.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Minimum 3 years of leadership/supervisory experience in manufacturing.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement processes.
  • Familiarity with department equipment and processes.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills, with proven problem-solving and cost management abilities.
  • Mechanical, electrical, hydraulic skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and bills of material.
  • Experience with process improvement.
  • Proficiency in computer skills.

Salary Range - $75-90k

EDUCATION REQUIRED: High school diploma required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
