Job summary

Johnson Outdoors Inc. is seeking a Production Supervisor to plan, schedule and oversee daily production activities, ensuring product availability and on-time shipping. The role emphasizes safety, efficiency, and collaboration across departments to meet department goals and maintain high quality standards.

As a leader, you will guide a team, monitor performance, coach staff, and participate in budget discussions while upholding regulatory compliance and efficient operations across the facility.

Responsibilities

• Assesses, plans and schedules production to ensure product availability and shipping requirements are met.
• Oversees daily activities and completes scheduled work to maximize productivity, minimize cost and increase quality.
• Makes recommendations for material, workflow and facilities to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
• Troubleshoots production problems and ensures machinery, equipment and facilities are functioning for efficient production.
• Reports process, facility or equipment problems, and collaborates with management and maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Provides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data.
• Ensures compliance with state and federal regulations in collaboration with production, operations, HR and engineering.
• Ensures safety, monitors security and maintains good housekeeping/cleanliness.
• All other duties as assigned.
• Supervises daily activities for a team, ensures productivity, sets priorities and manages work schedules.
• Provides input on resource planning and policy development.
• Trains/coaches team members on performance, completes performance evaluations and recommends pay actions.
• Participates in hiring and termination decisions.
• May provide input into the department budget and control expenses.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities to supervise large groups and meet deadlines while maintaining positive employee relations.
• Ability to build high performing teams with mutual accountability for results.
• Ability to manage conflict with assertive and decisive behavior while remaining composed in difficult situations.
• Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills to speak clearly and persuasively, speak to groups and write clearly.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) or similar; ability to develop and understand complex spreadsheets.
• Requires extensive walking and extended periods of standing or sitting.
• General knowledge of the machines and equipment used.
• Ability to focus on organizational growth, financial performance and achieving results.
