Job summary

Neogen is seeking a Production Supervisor I to lead second-shift manufacturing operations at our Sample Handling facility. This hands-on leadership role ensures products are manufactured, filled, packaged, labeled, and palletized safely, efficiently, and per approved batch records and SOPs.

The supervisor will train and supervise staff, coordinate daily activities, monitor performance metrics, troubleshoot equipment, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• At least five years of related experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, procedures, and production workflows.
• Previous experience supervising employees in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with employees and management regarding daily operations and the department’s future development.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Supervise second-shift manufacturing operations according to approved batch records and procedures.
• Develop and coordinate production schedules to meet requirements.
• Oversee filling, packaging, labeling, and palletizing of products.
• Ensure employees follow procedures, quality standards, and compliance.
• Train, coach, and supervise manufacturing personnel.
• Participate in recruitment, interviewing, and selection of employees.
• Monitor labor, production time, output, and performance metrics for efficiency.
• Maintain organization and inventory control of raw materials in the warehouse.
• Assist with physical inventory counts and reconciliation.
• Oversee cleaning and sanitation of equipment and production areas.
• Maintain and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment to minimize downtime.
• Assist with evaluation and installation of new equipment.
• Provide hands-on manufacturing support as needed.
• Serve as backup to Manufacturing Manager during their absence.
• Support other departments and perform additional duties as assigned.
