Job summary

Magna International, including its Cosma unit, seeks a press line operator in Piedmont, SC. You will supervise the shift, keep the press schedule on track, and ensure products meet quality standards while handling essential paperwork and data entry.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, at least 1 year of metal working/press experience, and strong verbal and written communication, math, and organizational skills. SAP knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Gives directions and aligns associates on the shift to keep operations fully utilized.
• Ensures the press schedule is met and alerts relevant personnel if issues arise.
• Organizes and coordinates activities to meet quality standards per company and customer requirements.
• Handles required paperwork and data entry like shift summary sheets and traceability sheets.
• Manages manpower alignment and break rotations, including coverage for absent associates.
• Assists Supervisors with attendance tracking, vacations, overtime, and performance issues.
• Trains associates and verifies work instructions are followed on the line.
• Performs other duties as required.

Job Responsibilities

Essential Functions of the Position

• Gives directions and align associates on the shift to ensure they stay fully utilized.
• Be certain that the Press schedule is being met and notify appropriate persons if there is a problem.
• Organizes and coordinates the activities of employees to ensure that productions and/or repairs conform to quality standards outlined by the company and/or customer requirements.
• Responsible for completion of all applicable paper work and computer inputs– Shift summary sheet, Down time system, Lot Traceability sheet, Crane check sheet, Destacker set-up sheet, Die set sheet, LPA, Layered Process sheet, QID sheet, etc.
• Manpower alignment to schedule and organize break rotation incl. filling in for Associates that are out.
• Assist Supervisors with tracking of attendance, vacation, overtime and performance appraisal issues.
• Train associates and ensure work instructions are being followed by all Associates on the line.
• Perform other duties as required.

Physical Demands / Work Environment Manufacturing Environment

90% Standing and Walking, 10% Lifting up to 50 lbs.

Education and/or Experience Required

• High school diploma or general education degree(GED)
• 1 year prior metal working and press experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Good mathematical, analytical and organizational skills
• Able to work in various locations within and outside the plant

Preferred

• Six months to one year experience as press operator
• SAP knowledge
• Tool and Die, Electrician or millwright Certificate of qualification
• Work Experience Must currently hold or be able to attain a forklift license.
• Must exemplify excellent leadership, interpersonal skills, and communication skills (written and oral).
• Good mathematical, analytical and organizational skills.
• Able to work in various locations within and outside the plant.
