Job summary

Timken in Illinois is hiring a 2nd Shift Assembly Machinist to set up and operate manual lathes, tapping presses, and fit drills within our assembly departments. You will follow safety rules, inspect parts, and document quality data to ensure prints are met.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (validation is required).
• Previous manufacturing experience with general machine aptitude.
• Ability to accurately use calipers, gauges and micrometer.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints.
• Prior manufacturing and machine operating experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual lathes, tapping presses, and fit drills per instructions.
• Select and change fixtures, plugs, arbors, drill bits and taps.
• Set speed and stroke length of drill press; deburr and tap parts; use gauges.
• Load parts on chuck or plug and check parts at designated intervals.
• Maintain quality characteristics per print; document proceedings and SPC charts.
