GE Vernova is seeking an Operations Leader to oversee Turbine Assembly operations in Greenville, SC. You will lead hourly production teams, drive safety, quality, and cost objectives, and make timely business decisions to meet cell imperatives.

You will develop objectives and execute short- and long-term goals with cross-functional peers. You will mentor and manage production associates, ensure resource availability, and monitor performance against plans.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or HS diploma with at least 6 years of experience in Manufacturing, Engineering, or Assembly.
  • 1 year of experience in manufacturing, engineering or assembly.

Responsibilities

  • Lead production team members to execute daily production plans.
  • Ensure team has tools, materials, and equipment for safe performance.
  • Communicate and elevate problems to appropriate teams for timely solutions.
  • Drive performance metrics for safety, quality, materials management, fulfillment, productivity and system compliance.
  • Provide direction and support for production associates including scheduling overtime and prioritizing cell goals.
  • Monitor adherence to daily production goals and adjust as needed.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional peers to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Support 5S and Visual Management programs and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Develop and support growth of all employees.
  • Uphold workplace policies including attendance and safety objectives.

Job Description SummaryThe Operations Leader will provide leadership and planning for Turbine Assembly operations supporting cell imperatives, safety, quality, delivery, and cost. You will be leading hourly production team members that will report to you. You will be expected to make business critical decisions in a timely manner while demonstrating leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment for your team. In this role, you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for yourself and others, and effect short-term and some long-term business goals.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Lead production team members to execute daily production plans consistent with the goals and objectives of the cell
  • Actively monitor production team to make sure they have tools, materials, and equipment so they can perform their jobs safely
  • Communicate and elevate problems that stop work to proper teams and individuals so solutions can be implemented
  • Drive performance metrics and track results for key business priorities as defined by your role i.e. safety, quality, materials management, fulfillment, productivity, and system compliance
  • Provide direction and support needs for assigned production associates which includes: resource and coverage planning, scheduling overtime, and supporting cell priorities
  • Monitor adherence to daily production goals
  • Work with cross-functional peers to troubleshoot and resolve technical and quality issues as they arise
  • Support, encourage and facilitate core manufacturing principles by providing adequate time for training and for teams to accomplish continuous improvement projects
  • Work to maintain and further develop a Visual Management including support for a 5S program, materials, and metric displays
  • Develop and support the growth of all employees
  • Support all company workplace policies including attendance and safety objectives
  • Work with HR to develop a performance oriented work environment encompassing timely performance appraisals, reviews for new employees, and timely disciplinary action when warranted
  • Monitor performance to the plan and take pro‑active action to solve problems and mitigate risk in meeting the plan. This includes the use of, and even creation of, L1 and L2 Communication boards
  • Ensure compliance with business and quality standards
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college OR a High School Diploma / GED with at least 6 years of experience in Manufacturing, Engineering, or Assembly
  • 1 years of experience in manufacturing, engineering or assembly
Desired Characteristics
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business
  • Flexibility to work across both planning and operations supervision responsibilities
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Previous people leadership experience of at least 2 years
  • Ability to influence others and lead small teams; Ability to lead and influence a team and articulate plans for the shift
  • Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously; Ability to document, plan, and execute production schedule
  • Effective problem identification and solution skills
  • Proven analytical and organizational ability
  • SAP/BMS is preferred
Eligibility Requirements
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship now or in the future
  • Must work 100% onsite at the Greenville, SC manufacturing facility
  • Ability to work second shift schedule: 2:15pm - 11:15pm
