Job summary

Charles River is seeking a Technician I – Necropsy for the 2nd Shift Pathology Services Team in Mattawan, MI. The role involves euthanasia and post-mortem exams under supervision, with duties spanning sample collection, data recording, and lab prep.

Training will cover handling, dissection, and SOPs; strong safety and communication skills are essential. The position offers a $20/hr base with a 10% shift differential, with schedule Monday–Friday 12:00 PM–8:30 PM and potential overtime.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; BA/BS in biological science preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform euthanasia and post-mortem examination of animals for pathology review.
• Ensure animal welfare and humane care; maintain safe, compliant procedures.
• Train in onboarding skills, including handling, sedation, dissection, sample collection and weighing.
• Collect, document, and verify data in forms or electronic systems.
• Review documentation for quality control and SOP adherence.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
• Learn anatomical terms and handle samples per SOPs.
• Work additional duties as assigned.
