2nd shift Microbiology Laboratory Supervisor

Responsibilities

1. Manage daily operations of the microbiology department to ensure smooth sample flow and testing
2. Provide leadership for laboratory operations
3. Hire, coach, review, manage, and terminate staff as needed
4. Prioritize daily activities and ensure quality control systems are operational
5. Oversee staff scheduling to meet production goals and adjust staffing for workload fluctuations
6. Maintain and evaluate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
7. Prepare for and facilitate audits by customers and regulatory agencies
8. Stay informed on industry standards and regulations
9. Review and approve SOPs
10. Participate in strategic planning and provide method development oversight
11. Build and maintain client relationships and ensure satisfaction
12. Counsel staff on operational issues and oversee data accuracy
13. Oversee staff orientation and conduct investigations related to quality events
14. Identify process improvements and recommend new equipment
15. Manage inventory and liaise with vendors
16. Assist in capital budgeting and understanding testing costs
17. Implement technological advances and interface with regulators
18. Ensure compliance with regulatory and cGMP standards, including maintenance and validation
19. Perform HR functions for laboratory staff

Candidate Profile

Ideal candidate would possess:

• Extensive knowledge of microbiology testing methods and equipment
• Proven success in improving operational, quality, and safety performance
• Effective organizational, communication, and teaching skills
• Knowledge of relevant standards, regulations, and guidelines
• Ability to manage and schedule staff effectively
• Strong analytical and communication skills

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree required
• At least 5 years of microbiology experience
• Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience
• Authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions

Position details: Full-Time, Tuesday-Saturday, 3:00 p.m.-11:30 p.m., with additional hours as needed. Candidates living near Lancaster, PA are encouraged to apply.
