Job summary

Certified Group is seeking a Microbiology Technician to join our team. Prepare samples for analytical and microbiological testing of food products, ingredients, and environmental samples, applying approved techniques.

Shift: Tuesday-Saturday, 2:00pm-10:30pm, with a 7.5% shift differential for the 2nd shift. This role requires a high school diploma and/or an associate degree with laboratory experience.

You will maintain media, perform QC, and ensure safety and accurate records in a fast-paced lab.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Associate degree in Life Science or 2 years of laboratory experience preferred.
• Broad knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures of a food testing laboratory.
• Ability to travel is preferred.
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare samples for indicator organisms, pathogens, and chemistries.
• Apply aseptic techniques in daily workload.
• Maintain media and reagents for daily microbiological testing.
• Inventory and report expendable supplies/materials needed for testing requirements.
• Provide routine preventive maintenance by cleaning, sanitizing, and trash disposal.
• Perform quality control by incubator temperatures and control organisms.
• Pursue processes and techniques per FSNS policies and customer requirements.
• Maintain laboratory conditions and accurate records throughout procedures.
• Perform activities in a neat, safe, hygienic, and efficient manner.
• Share information in an open and timely manner.
• Assist with prioritizing work to meet individual and team goals in the Food Safety Net Services team.
• Ensure safety of oneself and others in the area.
• Complete required training.
