Job summary

Certified Group is seeking a Microbiology Technician to join our growing team in California. You will prepare samples for microbiological testing of food products and environments, applying approved techniques and maintaining quality control throughout daily operations.

Shift is Tuesday–Saturday, 2:00 PM–11:00 PM. The role requires lab safety adherence, accurate record-keeping, and the ability to manage supplies and equipment efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; an Associate degree in Life Science or two years of laboratory experience preferred.
• Broad knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures in a food testing laboratory.
• Ability to travel is preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare samples for indicator organisms, pathogens, and chemistries.
• Apply aseptic techniques in daily workload.
• Maintain media and reagents for daily microbiological testing.
• Inventory and report expendable supplies or materials needed for testing.
• Provide routine preventive maintenance by cleaning, sanitizing, and trash disposal.
• Perform quality control monitoring by incubator temperatures, inoculating controls, and running media controls.
• Maintain lab condition, equipment, and records throughout procedures.
• Ensure activities are neat, safe, hygienic, and efficient.
