Job summary

Labcorp in San Diego, CA is seeking an entry level Medical Lab Technician to join our team on the 2nd shift. This casual/per diem position offers flexible hours as needed.

You will perform routine and complex procedures, monitor instrumentation, prepare reagents, and report results to support patient care. Minimum qualifications include an associate degree in a related science and California MLT license; preferred qualifications include ASCP/AMT certification and a bachelor’s degree.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
• California state issued MLT license.
• Preferred: Labcorp experience, or a Bachelor's degree in a related science.
• ASCP or AMT certification.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to criteria.
• Perform routine and complex procedures per SOP.
• Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation.
• Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to support patient care.
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies.
• Assist with processing of specimens.
• Maintain a safe work environment and PPE.

Education

Associate’s degree in Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology

California MLT license

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology

ASCP or AMT certification
