Job summary

GoTriangle is seeking a 2nd Shift Mechanic II to diagnose and repair a full range of transit vehicles, including buses and specially equipped vans. You will handle more complex diagnostics, fabrication, and overhauling work under the supervision of a Maintenance Supervisor.

The role requires an Associate’s Degree, at least three years of journey mechanic experience on gasoline and diesel equipment, and certifications such as DOT medical card, A/C Section 609, and NC Safety/Emission inspections.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university.
• Three years total related experience as a journey mechanic on gasoline and diesel equipment.
• Ability to report to work during Adverse Weather conditions.
• Must have or be able to obtain a Class B Commercial Driver's License with a Passenger endorsement.
• Must meet DOT physical requirements and hold a valid DOT card.
• Strong analytical/diagnostic skills.
• Certification in servicing motor vehicle A/C (Section 609, Clean Air Act).
• Certification in Safety and Emission Inspections per NC regulations.
• Proficient with a full range of mechanic tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses mechanical issues in buses and vans, including HVAC, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Repairs systems such as air brakes, transmissions, engines, and electronic controls.
• Fabricates parts and welds as needed.
• Determines when to rebuild or order parts based on cost and history.
• Responds to road calls and performs on-site repairs when possible.
• Maintains safety records and ensures compliance with safety rules.
