Job summary

Johnson Controls in York, PA is seeking a Shipping Material Coordinator for the 2nd shift. You will set up and operate metal fabrication machines, read blueprints, select tooling, and ensure parts are properly labeled and stored.

The role requires basic math, blueprint literacy, and PC/CNC familiarity. Responsibilities include monitoring machine operations, recording deviations, training coworkers, and maintaining safety practices.

Qualifications

Education: One year certificate from college or technical school or 3–6 months related experience.
Language ability: read and write simple instructions and safety manuals.
Math ability: read a scale, fractions, decimals; compute rates and percentages.
Reasoning ability: apply common sense to follow instructions and solve problems.
Computer skills: knowledge of CNC software and PC use.
Certificates & Licenses: Forklift license required in some departments; obtain within 3 months.

Responsibilities

Reads and interprets blueprints, engineering specs, and shop orders to determine setup and sequence of operation.
Selects, positions, and secures tooling and fixtures onto machine.
Positions and clamps stops, guides, and turntables.
Adjusts controls to set machining factors and speeds.
Locates and marks bending or cutting lines on workpiece.
Starts machine and adjusts settings for multiple passes; inspects or measures work.
Labels parts and moves them to storage; documents deviations and corrective actions.
Trains new or existing employees if necessary; reports injuries and near misses.
