Job summary

Sonoco in West Chester, OH is seeking a Material Handler to support production by safely operating heavy machinery and moving materials through the plant. You will contribute to accurate documentation and ensure materials are ready for the next steps in production.

The role requires prior experience with raw materials in manufacturing and forklift operation, with a focus on safety and efficiency. Shift: 2nd, 2:45pm–11:00pm; pay includes $0.75 shift differential.

Qualifications

• Experience handling raw materials in a manufacturing setting.
• Previous forklift driver experience preferred.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and escalate only complex issues.

Responsibilities

• Strap pallets using 2‑ or 4‑way depending on location and dunnage.
• Use strapping gun and ergo machine.
• Quality inspection against specs with measuring tape.
• Ensure documentation from the floor is complete and filed.
• Move strips and finished goods to maintain production flow.
• Operate wrapping machine and replace rolls.
• Assist with loading trucks using buddy check system.
• Inspect incoming boards/rolls for flute/caliper and PO match.
• Handle miscellaneous tasks and general labor as assigned.
