Job summary

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) in Elkridge, MD, is seeking a 2nd Shift Manufacturing Operations Manager 1 to lead a cross-functional team across production, test, shipping and quality activities. You will oversee day-to-day operations, drive safety, quality, cost, and delivery targets, and coordinate with engineering, supply chain and planning functions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree with 5 years of Manufacturing Operations experience; Master's with 3 years; 9 years may substitute.
• Experience mentoring, leading, and coaching teams.
• Experience collaborating across a diverse cross-discipline team.
• Proficient with MS Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance; U.S. Citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations across production, assembly, test, shipping, and quality activities.
• Directly supervise 5–15 employees, set priorities, manage schedules, and control costs.
• Provide clear directions and coaching using established procedures.
• Monitor work in process and readiness, resolving day-to-day issues.
• Coordinate schedules with Material Requirements Planning and Engineering.
• Track KPIs for safety, quality, delivery, productivity, 5S, and housekeeping.
• Ensure compliance with ISO9001, LEAN, and other auditable processes.
• Promote safety, training, and career development for your team.
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment and manage equipment calibration.
