Job summary

Stanley Black & Decker is seeking a Manufacturing Maintenance Tech for the Hesston, KS area. This 2nd shift role (2:30PM-11PM) focuses on maintaining and repairing shop machinery and equipment across multiple plant areas, using various tools and references.

You will inspect, dismantle, repair, test, and adjust mechanical components, with opportunities to operate metalworking equipment and support environmental compliance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Two to three years of industrial electrician or mechanic experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain machinery and equipment using diagrams, manuals and specs.
• Observe machinery in operation and diagnose issues by listening to sounds.
• Dismantle devices to replace defective parts using hoists and tools.
• Inspect parts for wear and dimensional accuracy with measuring tools.
• Adjust functional parts using hand tools and alignment aids.
• Repair or replace defective structural parts in devices.
• Test devices after repair and lubricate/clean parts.
• May set up drill presses or grinders to fabricate parts.

Summary:

Maintain and repair machinery and equipment in the shop, Plant 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Building and maintenance inside and outside as needed.

What You’ll Do

As a Maintenance Tech, you’ll be part of our team located in Hesston, KS. You’ll get to:

• Repair and maintain, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operations manual, and manufacturer's specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment, using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring and testing instruments. (Approx. 15%)

• Observe mechanical devices in operation and listen to their sounds to locate causes of trouble. (Approx. 15%)

• Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoist, crane, hand tools and power tools. (Approx. 15%)

• Examine form and texture of parts to detect imperfections. Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rule, caliper, micrometer and other measuring instruments. (Approx. 15%)

• Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments using hand tools, level, plum bob and straight edge. (Approx. 15%)

• Repair or replace defective structural parts in devices using hand tools. (Approx. 10%)

• Start devices to test their performance. Lubricate and clean parts. (Approx. 10%)

• May set up and operate drill press, grinder and other metal working tools to make and repair parts. May assist with compliance of environmental iss
