Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for the Toledo, Ohio plant on the 2nd shift (3:00 PM–11:00 PM). The role focuses on troubleshooting, tooling, and continuous improvement within a manufacturing setting, with cross-functional collaboration and training of a small team.

The candidate will analyze data to support cost reductions and tool life improvements, develop permanent corrective solutions, and ensure adherence to GM standards across processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated high level of analytical ability including experience with structured technical problem solving (e.g., RedX or Design for Six Sigma).
  • Team environment experience to understand product, processes, and failure modes.
  • Ability to manage multiple and difficult projects with autonomy and accountability for results.
  • Proven troubleshooting experience with production equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Supports continuous improvement projects.
  • Approval of process documentation.
  • Diagnose, analyze, and document emergent tooling issues.
  • Create engineering sufficiency plans as required.
  • Ensure supply base adheres to GM standards and manufacturing processes.
  • Design, analyze, and implement product or machinery designs for best method of manufacturing processes.
  • Propose and evaluate processes for equipment in the assigned area.
  • Direct the design, development, and/or improvement of manufacturing processes for the assigned area.
  • Provide direction to a small group of technical employees and lead cross-functional teams.
