Job Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer 2nd Shift at Challenge Manufacturing Holdings, Inc. will provide critical engineering support for production processes, focusing on optimizing efficiency, quality, and cost during the second shift operation.

Job Responsibilities
  • Analyze and troubleshoot manufacturing processes to identify and resolve issues impacting production, quality, and scrap.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain manufacturing instructions, process documentation, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Collaborate with production teams to optimize machine utilization, cycle times, and material flow.
  • Participate in the design, development, and implementation of new or modified tooling, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for production deviations and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives utilizing lean manufacturing principles (e.g., 5S, Kaizen).
  • Provide technical guidance and training to manufacturing personnel on process improvements and new equipment.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and report on manufacturing efficiency and quality metrics.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies within the manufacturing environment.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to address immediate production challenges during the second shift.
Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role, preferably in a high-volume production environment.
  • Proven experience with process optimization, lean manufacturing methodologies, and continuous improvement tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct root cause analysis.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and GDT interpretation.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing execution systems (MES) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with various departments.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to work the 2nd shift (typically afternoon/evening hours).
  • Experience in the automotive manufacturing industry is a plus.
