Job summary

BUILD, Inc. on Chicago's West Side is seeking a committed Maintenance Worker for the 2nd shift (40 hours, full-time, non-exempt).

The MW works with the facilities team to maintain clean, safe spaces for program participants, staff, and the public, performing cleaning, light maintenance, and setup for programs or events. Two years of maintenance experience preferred; valid driver’s license required; ability to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends.

Qualifications

• Two years of maintenance experience preferred.
• Ability to work on multiple tasks and interact professionally with BUILD staff, program participants, community members and guests.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to work flexible hours including early morning, late evening and weekend hours.

Responsibilities

• Work positively and professionally with all staff, program participants, community members and guests to provide a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
• Do cleaning interior, exterior, and immediate grounds while performing light maintenance as part of the maintenance team.
• Pull garbage, pick up trash and maintain clean building and grounds.
• Set up building for programs and rentals as part of the maintenance team, as assigned.
• Do receiving, storing, and distributing custodial supplies as part of the maintenance team.
• Assist with performing minor building repairs as needed under the direction of the facilities manager and work on completing work orders.
• Shovel snow and de-ice walkways. Do landscaping tasks as assigned.
• Maintain effective two-way communication while dealing with concerns in the field with all staff and immediate supervisor.
• Utilize the assigned communication system to always maintain communication.
• Follow the B.U.I.L.D. policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Maintain good safety awareness and follow all safety guidelines and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned
