Job summary

Miller Poultry in Orland, IN is seeking a 2nd Shift Maintenance Technician to keep our poultry processing equipment running smoothly. This full-time role requires diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance, including welding, mechanical, hydraulic and electrical tasks.

You will follow safety and Lock Out/Tag Out procedures and support plant operations with reliable, well-documented work.

Qualifications

• Maintenance technician is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance—basic knowledge of welding, plumbing, mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical.

Responsibilities

• Start machines and observe operation to detect issues.
• Inspect machine parts and advise on repairs.
• Lubricate and replace parts per procedures.
• Install or change machine parts per specs.
• Dismantle machines for repair.
• Record maintenance information.
• Read work orders to identify repair needs.
• Collaborate with others to repair/move machines.

JOB SUMMARY:

Are you a mechanically inclined individual who enjoys working on machinery? Our Maintenance department needs your skills and trades. Our department has full-time and part-time positions available. Our maintenance technicians are responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance—basic knowledge of all maintenance functions including welding, general plumbing, mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical. Lubricate machinery, change parts, or perform other routine machinery maintenance. All candidates are required to complete a maintenance test.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Start machines and observe mechanical operation to determine efficiency and detect problems.
• Inspect or test damaged machine parts, mark defective areas, or advise supervisors of repair needs.
• Lubricate or apply adhesives or other materials to machines, machine parts, or other equipment, according to specified procedures.
• Install, replace, or change machine parts and attachments, according to production specifications.
• Dismantle machines and remove parts for repair
• Record production, repair, and machine maintenance information.
• Read work orders and specifications to determine machines and equipment requiring repair or maintenance.
• Collaborate with other workers to repair or move machines, machine parts, or equipment.
• Inventory and requisition machine parts, equipment, and other supplies to maintain and replenish stock.
• Collect and discard worn machine parts and refuse to maintain machinery and work areas.
• Know and follow Miller Poultry Lock Out/Tag Out procedures
• Know all plant rules and GMPs
• Knowledge of safety rules
• Knowledge of first aid program
• Must know and pass all tests for Confined Space Entry, Hot Work Permit program, pallet jack, forklift, scissor lift, and LOTO
• Must know animal welfare rules
• Able to perform NELS checks
