Job summary

Miller Poultry is seeking maintenance technicians to diagnose, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on a range of machinery in its northeast Indiana facility. The role includes welding, plumbing, electrical work, and following strict safety and lockout procedures.

Candidates must complete a maintenance test and be able to operate equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, and scissor lifts. Full-time and part-time positions available in a safety-conscious environment.

Qualifications

• Must be mechanically inclined with ability to diagnose and repair machinery.
• Basic knowledge of welding, general plumbing, mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Ability to read work orders and follow production specifications.

Responsibilities

• Start machines and observe operation to determine efficiency and detect problems.
• Inspect damaged parts and advise on repairs needed.
• Lubricate parts and apply adhesives per procedures.
• Install, replace or adjust machine parts to meet specs.
• Dismantle machines and prepare for repair.
• Record maintenance activities and parts used.
• Follow safety rules and company LOTO procedures.

With roots in northeast Indiana, we are a family-owned company that has been raising and processing organic and all-natural chicken with the help of local farm families for over 30 years. JOB SUMMARY:

Are you a mechanically inclined individual who enjoys working on machinery? Our Maintenance department needs your skills and trades. Our department has full-time and part-time positions available. Our maintenance technicians are responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance—basic knowledge of all maintenance functions including welding, general plumbing, mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical. Lubricate machinery, change parts, or perform other routine machinery maintenance. All candidates are required to complete a maintenance test.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Start machines and observe mechanical operation to determine efficiency and detect problems.
• Inspect or test damaged machine parts, mark defective areas, or advise supervisors of repair needs.
• Lubricate or apply adhesives or other materials to machines, machine parts, or other equipment, according to specified procedures.
• Install, replace, or change machine parts and attachments, according to production specifications.
• Dismantle machines and remove parts for repair
• Record production, repair, and machine maintenance information.
• Read work orders and specifications to determine machines and equipment requiring repair or maintenance.
• Collaborate with other workers to repair or move machines, machine parts, or equipment.
• Inventory and requisition machine parts, equipment, and other supplies to maintain and replenish stock.
• Collect and discard worn machine parts and refuse to maintain machinery and work areas.
• Know and follow Miller Poultry Lock Out/Tag Out procedures
• Know all plant rules and GMPs
• Knowledge of safety rules
• Knowledge of first aid program
• Must know and pass all tests for Confined Space Entry, Hot Work Permit program, pallet jack, forklift, scissor lift, and LOTO
• Must know animal welfare rules
• Able to perform NELS checks
