Job summary

Wayne-Sanderson Farms seeks an industrial maintenance technician to service poultry processing equipment and conveyors. You will inspect, repair, and maintain mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, using blueprints and diagrams to ensure safety and compliance with specifications.

The role requires 1 year of maintenance experience or demonstrated applicable knowledge, with ability to work unsupervised, nights and extended shifts, and to operate basic tools.

Qualifications

  • Requires High School Diploma or equivalent and NOCTI Level 1 in Mechanical/Electrical.
  • At least 1 year of industrial maintenance experience or equivalent mechanical/electrical knowledge.
  • Ability to read blueprints/schematics and use basic math and computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and perform preventative maintenance on industrial machinery using blueprints and diagrams.
  • Identify root causes and perform repairs or fabricate parts as needed.
  • Identify unsafe conditions and report if unresolved; maintain manuals and procedures.
  • Work in compliance with company policies and safety guidelines.

Job description

SHIFT HOURS:

1st Shift: 5:30am-7:00pm 2nd Shift: 5:25 pm-6:00 am

JOB INCENTIVES:

Pay starting at $25.45/hr Benefits available on Day 1 On-the-job training

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Primarily responsible for assisting in the maintenance and repair of various mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and conveying systems/types of industrial equipment for poultry processing plant. Perform preventative and predictive maintenance using blueprints and diagrams to verify that all equipment is operating within required specifications and tolerances. May perform periodic testing and inspections, troubleshooting and repairs. Performs all work in compliance with company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
  • Under general supervision, repair and perform preventative maintenance on industrial machinery (i.e. mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, conveying systems, etc) using blueprint and schematic drawings to ensure equipment is performing safely to required specifications
  • Identify root cause of basic mechanical issues and performs repairs by welding, fabricating parts, basic pipefitting or replacing defective component; notify appropriate personnel if further attention is required
  • Identify unsafe conditions and corrects; reports to appropriate personnel if unable to correct on own
  • Assist with maintaining a file of blueprints and operating manuals and procedures as needed
  • Work in compliance with all company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulations
  • All other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent Pass NOCTI Mechanical/Electrical test, Level 1 required
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
  • Minimum 1 year experience in industrial machine predictive and preventative maintenance or demonstrated applicable mechanical and electrical knowledge
  • Intermediate math and computer skills
  • Ability to operate/use basic hand and power tools
  • Ability to work unsupervised and self-motivate
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays and extended shift hours
  • Sound work ethic, honesty and moral character
  • Preferred Industrial Maintenance Experience
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times in areas where required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Stand up to 8 hours
  • Lift up to 60 lbs
  • May be exposed to heat (99ºF, 37ºC) and cold (45ºF, 4ºC)
  • Exposure to wet and dusty environment
  • Frequently reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling and crawling
  • Roll and push buggies (~1,000 lbs.)
  • Work around raw, live animal odors
