Job summary

Auburn University Facilities Management is seeking a hands-on 2nd shift Maintenance Mechanic to support preventive maintenance across campus buildings, grounds, and facilities. You will join a skilled team handling routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to keep the campus safe and functional.

This role offers a 10% shift differential for evening/night shifts when working four hours between 3:00 p.m.

Qualifications

• Level I: High School Diploma or equivalent; Valid Driver's License.
• Level II: High School Diploma or equivalent and 3 years journeyman level experience in building maintenance, electrical repair, plumbing repair, carpentry, and/or trades.
• Substitution allowed for Experience: education can count toward experience at 1 year per year of required experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs inspections and routine maintenance on building environmental systems including HVAC.
• Installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains plumbing systems including domestic hot and cold and sanitary sewer.
• Maintains electrical systems including lights, devices, motors, and breakers; replaces bulbs and batteries.
• Performs carpentry tasks such as door and window repairs and furniture maintenance.
• Maintains surfaces through painting and preparation and coordinates repairs with supervisors.
• Assists in furniture removal, installation, relocation and setup; supports miscellaneous repairs.
• Communicates with coworkers and management to complete repairs in a timely, quality manner.
