Job summary

A. M. Castle & Co. in Hammond, IN seeks a full-time Machine Operator for 2nd shift (Mon-Thu, 4 p.m.

– 2 a.m.). The role involves operating turning machines and a crane, with training provided for turning machines. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401K match, PTO, parental leave, and tuition reimbursement. Compensation starts at $21/hr for the first 90 days and increases to $25.88/hr after 90 days, plus a $0.30 shift differential.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of warehouse experience.
• Experience on Kieserling machine is a plus.
• Past experience operating an overhead crane.
• Capable of being certified in assigned equipment (forklift, etc.).
• Advanced measurement competency.
• Knowledge of warehouse concepts and procedures.
• Strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Operate turning machines and saws; monitor material quality.
• Operate crane to load machines and trucks.
• Maintain accurate documents and data input.
• Set up and operate cutting machines per procedures.
• May perform programming/editing on assigned machines.
• Perform preventative maintenance on machines and equipment.
• Assist with warehouse duties as needed.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
