Castle Metals Machine Operator Job Description

2nd Shift: M-F 2pm - 10:30pm

Purpose:

The machine operator plays a vital role in the Warsaw, Indiana operation by safely using machines to process customer orders.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Set up and operate cutting machines following established procedures.
2. Use power equipment to process materials based on customer requirements.
3. Adjust machine settings safely to meet specifications.
4. Identify and report equipment defects or wear; perform setup and preventative maintenance.
5. Maintain a safe work environment.
6. Handle special projects as assigned.
7. Assist with warehouse duties such as loading/unloading trucks, moving materials, and preparing orders for shipment, including using equipment like forklifts, overhead cranes, and side-loaders.

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of two years of relevant machine operator experience, preferably in a metals service center.
• Ability to be certified on equipment such as forklifts, cranes, etc.
• Basic measurement and math skills.
• Knowledge of warehouse concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Strong work ethic.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

• Manual dexterity and physical activity including standing, walking, stooping, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Exposure to industrial equipment and use of PPE as trained.
