Job summary

Somic America Inc. seeks a dedicated Machinist/Operator to set up and operate CNC equipment, machining components to exact specifications. You will monitor processes, verify tolerances, and adjust tooling to maintain quality.

Collaboration with the team is essential to meet production goals. You will perform hourly inspections, adhere to safety and quality policies, and coordinate with maintenance and team leads to keep production moving.

Qualifications

  • Must read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate information effectively to team members.
  • Basic math including rates, ratios and percentages; SPC familiarity is a plus.
  • Ability to apply common sense and solve problems.
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate numerical control equipment to machine components per specs.
  • Perform hourly quality checks and document results on in-process sheets.
  • Change tools and fixtures as required per setup instructions.
  • Inspect parts for conformance and report anomalies to team leader.
  • Maintain safe working area and assist with routine maintenance tasks.

Job description

SUMMARYSets up and operates numerical control equipment to machine components to specifications by performing the followingduties. Satisfy SAs Quality goals and objectives in completion of activities or duties (reference Somic America QualityManual and Quality Policy).ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.SafetyMaintain and provide a safe work area and work in a safe manner.Report any unsafe conditions to Team Leader immediately.QualityComplete Hourly checks using In Process Check Sheets and Gaging to ensure parts meet Quality SpecificationsNotifies Team Leader of any suspect material and helps to contain material line side.ChangeoversComplete Changeovers using the Changeover Procedure.Attaches fixture to machine bed and positions and secures work piece in fixture according to changeover instructions.Fill in Change over checklist to ensure all changeover steps are complete.OperationUtilize AIM to transact material at final step of process.Completes Standardized work in accordance to Work Instructions.Removes material from boxes and places in fixture or on conveyor.Observes and listens to machine operation to detect malfunctions such as worn or damaged cutting tools.Manipulates controls and enters commands to index cutting tool to specified set point and to start machine. Offsets tool,as required.Measures and inspects parts for conformance to specifications/hourly checks, using in process sheets and gaging.Notify Team Leader or Production Manager of any abnormal or unusual condition.Assembles cutting tools in tool holders and positions tool holders in machine spindles as specified or inserts cutting toolsin specified machine magazines.Changes cutting tools and location of work piece during machining process as specified in setup instructions.Complete line PMs (planned maintenance) as assigned.Submit kaizen suggestions for improvements.QUALIFICATIONS : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential dutysatisfactorily.
